We are delighted to have been selected as Continuo Foundation grant recipients again, amongst a number of exciting projects!
This will enable us to take our new programme, 'Beethoven Mixtape', in collaboration with Dr Katy Hamilton and Music in the Round, on the road in 2026, to locations across the country, most of which have limited access to classical music.
Look out for dates and project info on our diary page, MitR's website and Continuo Connect soon!
Big thanks to The Strad online for featuring a blog post by our very own Magdalena Loth-Hill ahead of the third and final year of our residency as associate ensemble at Paxton House.

Oliver Leith - New Commission
'On a horse, on a hill, faraway, through fog and bonfire' is the title of our new commission by composer Oliver Leith.
The piece was written in memory of our friend, Philip Yeeles (1947-2021), and inspired by his love for chaconnes. This is a co-commission between the quartet, the Borletti-Buitoni Trust and Spitalfields Music with support from the New Music Commission Fund.
We are looking forward to premiering Oliver's work at Spitalfields Festival this July, with further appearances at Music at Paxton and Het Concertgebouw.
New CD, now OUT!
Our latest and shiniest CD is now available on all streaming platforms, as well as at our concerts!
We had so much fun recording with the inimitable Kate Bennett Wadsworth, cello, whose brilliant arrangement of Robert Schumann's Cello Concerto, for cello and string quartet, is at the heart of this album. You will also find a wonderful string quintet arrangement of Beethoven's Sonata for Piano and Cello, Op. 5, No. 1, by his student Ferdinand Ries.
Visiting Quartet at MitR, Sheffield
We have completed the first year of our residency as Music in the Round's 'Visiting Quartet', working with communities in and around Sheffield.
Our biggest 2024 highlight was a community production of Jonathan Dove's opera, Monster in the Maze at Sheffield's Crucible Theatre, working with a number of talented young people (read review). We are hugely looking forward to more exciting activities in 2025!
